As a young man, he officiated in Austria, Moravia, and Bukovina. In 1922, he was named the rabbi of the Frankfurt community and was active in the Jewish community establishment and Mizrahi , the religious Zionist Movement. In 1933, he joined the leadership of the National Representation (Reichsvertretung). Arrested by the Nazis in 1937, he emigrated to the United States in 1938 and to Israel in 1955, where he died in 1956.
